about us
A South African exploration company built on patient science and honest reporting, searching for the metals the energy transition needs.
Built To Explore Differently
NewRand Resources was founded in 2026 in Midrand by a group of South Africans who believe the country’s next mineral discoveries should be found with better science, and shared more fairly.
The world is changing how it makes and stores energy, and that change runs on metals: in batteries, in wind turbines, in electric motors and in the grids that connect them. South Africa holds some of the richest geology on Earth, yet much of it has never been explored with modern tools.
We started NewRand to do that work properly. We read the ground from orbit first, study what the national geological survey has already recorded, and only then go into the field, with the consent of the people who live and farm there.
We are deliberately patient. We test before we claim, we report to recognised standards, and we treat landowners and communities as partners in the work, not obstacles to it.
Our Mission
To discover and responsibly prove the mineral deposits South Africa’s next economy needs, through patient science, honest reporting and real partnership with the communities on our ground.
Our Vision
To be South Africa’s most trusted exploration company: known for finding what others missed, and for telling it straight.
What We Stand For
Evidence Before Claims
We only talk about what we have tested. Data first, opinions second.
Respect For Land And People
Landowners and communities are consulted early, listened to and treated fairly.
Honest Reporting
Results are reported to the SAMREC Code, good or bad, through a competent person.
Safety Always
Every person on a NewRand programme goes home safe. No result is worth an injury.
Local First
Local people and businesses come first for jobs, services and supplies.
Patience
Exploration takes years. We make careful, staged decisions and do not rush the ground.
Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act
The law that governs prospecting rights, landowner notice and consultation in South Africa.
National Environmental Management Act
Environmental authorisation, an approved management programme and financial provision for rehabilitation.
The SAMREC Code
How exploration results are reported: transparently, consistently and signed off by a competent person.
Mine Health and Safety Act
The safety standards every person and contractor on our programmes works to.
Protection of Personal Information Act
How we look after the personal information of landowners, communities and everyone who contacts us.
The Rules We Work By
We hold ourselves to South Africa’s laws and codes for exploration, not as a box to tick, but because they protect the people, the land and everyone who relies on our results.
